Outreach Committee
This committee embodies the spiritual purpose of The Blessings of Canaan. At the heart of the founder was a song that exemplifies the parable of the good Samaritan. The title of the song is "On the Darkest Side of the Road". Here are some of the words.
On the darkest side of the road where the sick and wounded lie

calling for help and for mercy oh how can you pass them by

asks your all in the service of want and pain

more that thou spendeth he'll repay when he comes again
As the name implies, this committee is about "reaching out" to others in need. Whatever the need, it should be every ministry's mission to at least make a honest attempt to either meet the need directly or find another ministry that can. Obviously, ministries are created by people who have a passion for their work and hopefully are led by the Holy Spirit. Because of this, not every ministry is designed or capable of meeting every need. However, if you have the compassion of Jesus you WILL take an active role in ministering to a person who needs your love. Too many people have empathy or pity, however that does not get the job done, only compassion will do that.
As The Blessings of Canaan endeavors to reach out, we include all manner of ministry. Ministry in song, preaching, teaching, missionary service, and all typical forms as is common to the Body of Christ. Our members have varied skills and talents that range from nursing to self employed businessmen. However, our jobs are not our passion. Being part of a family of believers who purpose to make an impact on the world with the time and talents God has given us is our burning desire. Being believers who demonstrate what Jesus said, not being hearers only. Perhaps we can reach out to you in your time of need.
